So...this post was supposed to read like a musical. It was going to be all:
CHORUS: We're here! We're here! Law school is really here!
SERIOUS 1L: Using all our time to study--
LONELY 1L: Boy I hope I find a buddy!
STRESSED 1L: Already think I'm going nutty!
CHORUS: Our first 1L day is here!
But that would take a really long time, and it actually requires me to sing the songs aloud, which would raise some eyebrows in the office. But I should get points for trying.
The truth is, things are busy. The 1Ls show up today, which means that I have to do my usual three-hour stint at an autograph table. (Boobs? Yes. Hairy man backs? Only for $30.) Then there are about four straight weeks of firm receptions to crash. ( I usually go as a 1L that was Yale undergad/Rhodes Scholar/U.N. Representative, but sometimes I like to switch it up and say that I'm the son of Czech immigrants and that I couldn't read in any language until late last year.)
But as soon as those things are out of the way, we can get back to the musical.
