Yesterday, my journalmonkey duties took me into the depths of the law library, in search of something in the Rare Book Room. Which means that I had to talk to the Rare Book librarian. This is a job that I want. He gets to sit in a secured room all day, looking for musty old English legal texts to acquire, and anytime somebody wants to look at his collection, they have to ring a bell so that he can decide if they're worthy. Definitely my kind of gig.
Anyway, I walked in and it was totally like something out of The Neverending Story. He was reading this massive, dusty old thing, and I asked about it, and he was all “That’s not a book for young boys!” and then the phone rang and he got distracted and I grabbed the book and ran and these big kids were chasing me and then I hid in a trashcan but got out and found a deserted building and started to read all about tenures. It was awesome.
